Who Grants a License: Licenses are granted by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (“OREC”).
Qualifications to receive a License: A candidate must complete 90 clock hours of study at an OREC-approved real estate school (search schools here), pass a school-administered final exam, and pass a state exam. All candidates must submit a full set of fingerprints, prove legal presence, prove citizenship and pass a background check. All candidates must be at least 18 years of age. For more information about qualifications, see Information to Obtain a License. NOTE: All education must have been completed within the previous 36 months prior to application.
Applying for the Exams: The application must be completed and approved by OREC prior to applying for the exam. Upon OREC approval of the application, the candidate's name is submitted to PSI (the testing vendor). At that point the candidate should apply to take the state exam through the PSI (testing vendor) website scheduling page. Test Content: The Oklahoma state real estate licensing exam is comprised of two separate portions, the national portion and the state-specific portion. Five questions on the national portion and ten questions on the state-specific portion are considered "experimental" questions and are not scored. Both tests are comprised of multiple choice questions with four answer choices provided for each question. Test takers are allotted 3 hours to complete both portions of the exam. A score of at least 75% is required to pass. The exam is presented in a computer-based format, but accommodations for paper-based tests and/or oral testing can be provided with special arrangements.
The national portion of the test consists of 80 questions, and tests the candidate's knowledge of general real estate concepts, including the following subject areas:

How to Apply for the License: Most of the required documentation will be submitted prior to taking the state exam. Candidates must provide OREC with the following documents: (1) completed application and application fee; (2) original Oklahoma state real estate licensing exam score report(s); (3) proof of legal presence in the U.S. and affidavit of citizenship; (4) proof of broker sponsorship; and (5) if applicable, documentation regarding any "yes" answer on the application. NOTE: All entry-level licensees are issued provisional salesperson licenses until the required post-licensing educational requirement is fulfilled.
Fees: OREC charges a license application fee, which is subject to change, but is specified on the application forms.
Who administers the test: OREC and PSI.
Post-Licensing Education Requirements: The newly-licensed salesperson must complete 45 clock hours of post licensing education within the first year of obtaining a license. Upon license renewal, the license will be issued as a (non-provisional) salesperson's license.
License Renewal Requirements – An Oklahoma real estate licensee must take 21 credit hours of continuing education (either online or in the classroom) from an OREC-approved provider every three years. Further information is provided on the OREC website, here.
