Oklahoma Electrician Exam
Need of a License: Electrical contractors and journeyman electricians need a license to work in Oklahoma.
Who Grants a License: Electrician licenses are granted by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
Qualifications Needed to Receive a License
Electrical Contractor: A candidate must have 12,000 hours’ experience in electrical construction work. 4,000 hours must be as a Licensed Unlimited electrical journeyman, and 6,000 hours must be in commercial industrial work as an employee of a licensed electrical contractor. A maximum of 2,000 hours may be satisfied by formal electrical education.
Journeyman Electrician: A candidate must have 8,000 hours’ experience as a registered apprentice under the direct supervision of a licensed journeyman or licensed contractor, 4,000 hours of which must be in commercial/industrial work and 2,000 hours of which may be satisfied by formal electrical education and/or military electrical experience.
Exam Requirements: A candidate for a master electrician license or a journeyman electrician license must pass the Master Electrician Examination or the Journeyman Electrician Examination, respectively.

Test Content
Electrical Contractor Exam: The electrical contractor exam consists of 50 questions on Electrical Business & Law with a time limit of 120 minutes and 100 Electrical Contractor questions with a time limit of 240 minutes. A candidate needs at least a 75% grade to pass.

Journeyman Electrician Exam - The journeyman exam consists of 100 questions with a time limit of 240 minutes. A candidate needs at least a 75% grade to pass.
The exam covers the following subject areas:

- Services, Feeders, and Branch Circuits
- Overcurrent Protection
- Conductors and Cables
- Raceways and Boxes

License Renewal Requirements: Licenses must be renewed annually. They expire on the last day of the birth month of the licensee.
